Asiana Bridal Show - Birmingham @asianatv

We're just about ready to get started with preparations before the next dose of the biggest Asian Bridal show in the UK - Asiana Bridal Show London!
So before I get swamped in make up, face charts and team get-togethers (so not complaining!) I wanted to share with you the shenanigans of the Birmingham show!

The Nina Ubhi Institute was the Make Up sponsor of the show, which means we were solely responsible for every model on the Catwalk looking the part, at every second!
It may have been just one day, but the show has taken weeks of preparation from Nina Ubhi, myself, and the Nina Ubhi Team.

My role was joint Head Make Up Artist for a team of over 20 artists. The make up concept was created by Nina Ubhi herself, and my job was to ensure the make up of each model was consistent and just as planned, as well as support each of the artists along the way.

We had weeks of training which was so much fun! When the weekend came, we all travelled up to Birmingham for final preparation which included a Catwalk rehearsal.

We set up shop in the Egbaston Cricket Stadium by 8am and eagerly awaited our models!
By 10am our models were ready to get going with their first dress rehearsal!
There were three Catwalk shows in total, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm, each was an hour long and all the artists were backstage making sure every model looked the part in between outfit changes.

The atmosphere backstage was just buzzing, it was such an adrenaline rush to get the girls ready against the clock, I managed to sneak out for a couple of minutes to see the girls on the stage and boy did they look amazing! That's the thing about Asian outfits, after the make up, the hair, the jewellery and the outfits the glam-o-meter is just through the roof!

If you're getting married next year or even just fancy a glam day out, head down to the next show in London on February 8th 2015. I'm hoping to give away a few tickets nearer the time, so I hope to see you there!

Lush New Shampoo Bar

The Lush 'New Shampoo Bar' is described as having two main tasks: 'to give amazing shine and stimulate hair follicles to maximise growth.'

Cinnamon is great for stimulating the scalp and hair folicles, which in turn encourages hair growth..okay let's face it, none of us are getting any younger and a helping hand would be handy.
There are so many products out there that claim to help your hair grow, so how would you know if this is any different?..
Take my word for it, I use it nearly everytime I wash my hair. This product is made from almost all natural ingredients which can only be a good thing, I'm a true believer in ingredients like nettle, peppermint and cinnamon. I regularly drink these herbal teas, so I'm very confident in what they can do for your body!

The ingredients in this bar include bay oil, rosemary, clove oil, nettle, peppermint and cinnamon..We all know that these natural ingredients are cooling and soothing for our bodies in one way or another, and thats what this bar does for your scalp.

One of the great things about a solid shampoo bar is that it's very compact, you don't have to worry about exceeding that 1 litre liqud limit in your handluggage if you're flying..I find that so annoying!

Application: To use it, you simply need to wet your hair and rub the bar over your hair from root to end once over, then use your hands to massage it in. It doens't create a huge lather, but in my eyes that's a good thing..for those who get a lot of tangles in their hair after washing, it could be down to the lather..less lather is better! This bar is perfect to use every time you wash your hair.

The result: I am very particular about the way my hair feels after I've washed it, I can tell in an instant if the conditioner didn't rinse out properly, and I know if if feels too heavy it won't style properly..okay maybe I'm just a little wierd? I'm not one who goes for shampoos that leave your hair silky smooth..in other words flat in a day, I like abit of texture to my hair so you will need a conditioner if you prefer the silky smooth feeling.

Product Summary:
A gorgeous smelling easy to use Shampoo that leaves your hair feeling light and squeaky clean

Morroccan Oil Tame your unruly locks @hqhair

There are alot of opinions on Moroccan Oil. Moroccan oil the equivalent to Argan Oil which comes from Argan Tree fruit -which as the name reads are grown almost only in Morocco. The oil is used as a lavish moisturiser for the skin and hair.

The reason I say there are many opinions on this product is because it's not 100% Argan Oil and that has put some people off, 100% true Argan Oil is available to buy and some do find great results, but Moroccan Oil have used the Oil with some similar Silicone based ingredients to what John Freida's Frizz Ease has to develop a bespoke hair product that I now won't live without.

The Oil comes in two types; a light version for those of us who have normal or thin hair, that starts to look greasy often and needs a wash more than three times a week. Then there is the normal version which is for everyone else, I fall under this bracket as I can get away with washing my hair around 3 times a week as it doesn't look greasy, that might be down to the fact that it's jet black!

I use it on every other wash just when my hair is a little damp but not soaking wet. The reason I don't use every time is only because I usually wear my hair curly and I find that if it's too silky smooth the curls don't sit as well...But that's just down to personal preference. Alternatively you can use a little to tame those unruly fly aways and finish of your look with a glossy shine.

The oil comes in an amber glass bottle, which for centuries has been used to protect the contents, preserving the life of the product. You may find perfumes oxidise and turn a funny colour after a while, and this is usually down to too much exposure to sun light...which an amber bottle avoids.

This stuff smells divine! It's doesn't reek of perfume, but it smells just sweet and fresh enough to leave your hair with a nice scent, perfect for those L'Oreal moments.

Consistency is relatively thick when pouring or pumping it out of the bottle but once it's in your hands rub your palms together and warm the product up, this will help spread it evenly over the hair and also thin it out abit so you don't get left looking greasy...Saying that this product really does soak into the hair very well..I have fallen victim to putting too much on in one area, my hair was freshly washed so I freaked out but after a few minutes you wouldn't have been able to tell because it all soaked in completely!

As someone with thick curly and wavy hair I can definitely recommend this product, I think it's even better value for those of us who buy those little bottles of John Freida frizz ease, this will last you much longer and do a better job!

An extremely light formula that seeps into the hair leaving no residue

Great for -Those looking for a deep conditioning or who want to add shine or tame a few fly aways to finish their look.
